2023 Spain Trip – Sabbatical II – Santiago de Compostela
Camino de Santiago and St. Jacob
Santiago de Compostela, the famous city in northwestern Spain, is just a short train ride from A Coruña, so of course I visited.
Here, I did something for my peace of mind – even if I will remain a stubborn atheist – and completed the Camino de Santiago. Okay, just the last 100 meters including visiting his church, shrine and embracing St. James the Great, also known as St. Jacob (kissing was not necessary and is no longer recommended).
The atmosphere in Santiago de Compostela is truly unique, created by pilgrims from all over the world. You can feel the spiritual energy and the deep connection that brings people from different cultures here. The narrow streets, the historic buildings, and the magnificent cathedral bear witness to countless pilgrimages and exude a special aura.”
