Bad Schandau to Dresden, the last “official” 2018-2019 sabbatical trip

Since I finished my Sabbatical suddenly earlier than expected (sorry Chile & Patagonia, this multi month trip is definitely only postponed) and as the last “official” sabbatical trip a small one – some impression of a casual Elbe journey, as I doing much to less: From Bad Schandau to Dresden my most dear city, my hometown with a paddle steamer. Through one of the most beautiful German scenery, the “Saxon Switzerland”. Dear fellow traveler: If you are in Dresden and it’s not raining cats and dogs ( )  – definitely do this this river trip, no matter which season – I promise faithfully it is worth it. There is almost nothing better in this life as glide down the river slowly and enjoy this beautiful and picturesque landscape, taste a nice Saxony (Meißen) wine. If you want to be a little more active you can combine the river trip with a short hiking Saxon Switzerland before.

A few small impressions, which do not in the least describe the magnificent beauty of one of the greatest area in Germany, for me the synonym of Heimat (the English translation of “Homeland” is truly not catching this feeling):
